I've been writing for, well, forever. A got a BA in English, a decision I made based on my love of books and writing. And now that I've written several books, I just can't seem to find enough places, besides writing a novel, where I can express myself through my writing. Sometimes I write a flash fiction piece, sometimes a short story. I usually have a book in mind when I write several short stories. But this website is something I've been thinking about for a long time.
As with most ideas I have about writing, this just 'came' to me (I'm sure my muse had something to do with it) one day and I liked the idea of it, A Little Literature, ALL You Need to Read, because sometimes that is all the time we have in a day, just enough to read A Little Literature. I don't always act on every idea but this seemed like a good one and something I could work on almost daily, if I wanted (and had the time!) But creativity doesn't stop, you just have to figure out how you want to express your creativity. Is it through writing or painting or sculpting or dancing, or playing a musical instrument -the list is endless. There are so many ways for us to express ourselves creatively. Writing works best for me so this is how I express myself. I do also enjoy painting but then we have the 'there are only so many hours in a day' thing.
What I have discovered by writing daily, whether it is a story, a novel, or even a journal entry, is that my writing has gotten better and better. Of course, the problem here is that you then want to re-write all of your older novels/stories, etc. But it is the best way to measure your progress by keeping those early writings around. My advice: Just keep on writing and right before your eyes, you will begin to see your progress. You will actually begin to like what you are writing as I did and continue to do.
